Why You Should Eat at Rad Na Silom In Thai Town

If you love Thai food and you love street food, Rad na Silom is the best of both worlds. It’s located in front of the ‘Silom Supermarket’ so when in doubt you could always type that into your favorite navigation / map app.

We ended up making 2 different trips here (because it was so good).

You can see if Rad Na Silom is something you’ll like by watching the video above or seeing the highlights below.

Ordering at Rad Na Silom

Ordering can be a bit confusing. There’s a window for the food and a separate window and tent to order crepes.

This is the side where you pick up your food.

It doesn’t feel like a traditional street food spot because you get a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. And they give you a receipt.

The Seating Area

They make the most of their limited space on the street.

Each table has its own set of condiments and the tables can easily fit 2 people and up to a group of 4.

You get the ‘beautiful’ view of Hollywood Blvd with the sounds of traffic passing by.

The Pad See Ew

The pad see ew is delicious. The veggies are crunchy. The meat is super tender and the noodles are super bouncy.

The best part is that it’s cooked fresh and arrives at your table nice and steamy.

It doesn’t taste too sweet or too salty. Nothing too extreme.

Pad Kra Pao

Easily one of the most awesome dishes at Rad Na Silom.

The kra pao comes with pork & holy basil. You can add an egg for $2 (we never say no to fried eggs).

It’s seasoned very well and has a very prominent herb taste without it being overpowering.

For the spicy food lovers, it comes with a spicy fish sauce that you can add to kick up the spice level.

Boat Noodles On Weekends

You can grab boat noodles for $7 on weekends.

They have beef and pork versions available and you can choose different types of noodles. The soup also has some crispy pork and tripe in it.

It comes in a really small plate so it’s almost like an appetizer.

It’s very beefy and for us it was ready in about two minutes.

So if you do like a very prominent beefy taste in your noodles, you’ll like this one.

Pad Thai

We’re not typically a Pad Thai type of couple, but it’s the dish of Thailand. .We had to do it.

It has little shrimps (that are more for texture than flavor) and little peanuts.

And as Lisa said, it’s not super orange, which means it’s authentic.

On gripe about other places with Pad Thai is that they make it too sweet. But not at Rad Na Silom.

We really liked the mushroom and the tofu.

And it was well worth the $10.

If you like Pad Thai, you’ll like the one here.

Thai Fried Rice

The fried rice here is actually quite spicy. So if you’re not able to handle spicy, beware. Otherwise, you’ll like the spicy kick.

There’s a nice wok char on it and adding $2 for a fried egg makes it even better.

The Most Unique Item at Rad Na Silom

The item that surprised us was the Thai crepe.

They’re all made to order so be aware that it could take up to 10 minutes if there are people waiting.

BUT, it’s definitely worth it.

The outside is nice and crispy and tastes a little bit like a fortune cookie.

We decided to get the ‘golden thread’. Which is something we had never heard of before.

With some help of a translation app, the worker there told us that the ‘golden’ part is salted egg yolk and the creme is a very rare cream that comes from Thailand. We suspect it to be some type of merengue.

It’s incredibly tasty with a nice balance of salty and sweet without going overboard.

How Much Does Everything Cost?

Most items are $10 which isn’t too bad. You’re getting the quality of a sit-down restaurant with street food prices.

We spent roughly $30 each time we went for the 2 of us so you can expect to pay $15-$20 per person, depending on if you get desserts or drinks.

Is Rad Na Silom Worth Going To?

Yes, especially if you love Thai food. It’s a fun experience, even if you have to drive quite a bit to get there.

There are so many different dishes and the food comes out so quickly that even when it’s busy you won’t have to wait too long.

One inconvenience is definitely parking.

We were able to find street parking a few blocks down on a weekday and a little farther down on the weekend that we went.
