If you’re looking for amazing dumplings in the San Gabriel Valley, Hui Tou Xiang should be at the top of your list.
This spot is known for its crispy, juicy dumplings that pack a ton of flavor.
But here’s something surprising—they have a second location, and it’s in a place you’d never expect!
Two Locations, One Amazing Experience
The original Hui Tou Xiang is located in San Gabriel at 704 W Las Tunas Dr #5. It’s small, cozy, and all about to-go orders.
You can sit inside, but they’ll still pack your food to-go. We brought ours home, and it was still incredible.
Their second location is in Hollywood at 1643 N Cahuenga Blvd. Yes, you read that right—Hollywood!
The vibe is completely different. It’s more of a sit-down restaurant, with a full bar and even skewers on the menu. But the dumplings? Just as good.
What We Ordered
We tried several dishes across both locations. The spicy beef noodle soup was packed to the brim, and the thick noodles soaked up all that spicy, beefy flavor.
We also got three huge chunks of tender beef that melted in your mouth.
The hui tou dumplings are their signature dish. These dumplings are pan-fried to perfection. Even after taking them home, they stayed crispy and juicy. Jonathan Gold even described them as a “Chinese version of a blintz”—and we totally see why.
Is Hui Tou Xiang Really That Good?
Some might wonder if Hui Tou Xiang is worth the hype. Yes, it is! Their dumplings are handmade, and you can taste the difference. Frozen dumplings just don’t compare. Even the boiled dumplings, which can sometimes be less exciting, were packed with flavor.
As for the Hollywood location, it may seem odd to find such an authentic dumpling spot there. But trust us, it works. It’s a great option if you don’t want to drive all the way to SGV. The menu is a little bigger, and the prices are about the same.
Why You Should Go
If you’re a dumpling lover, Hui Tou Xiang is a must-try. Whether you visit the San Gabriel or Hollywood location, you’ll get the same delicious food.
The dumplings are crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. The spicy beef noodle soup is also a must-order.
So, next time you’re craving dumplings, head to Hui Tou Xiang. And if you’re curious about the Hollywood spot, give it a try—it’s out of place, but in a good way.
