Exploring All of SGV’s Best Eats Featured in ‘The Brothers Sun’

1. Xiaolongkan Hot Pot Address: 46 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801

At Xiaolongkan Hot Pot, the adventure begins with a spicy challenge!

The hot pot here is a real tongue-twister. You can choose how spicy you want it. We went for the spicy option.

It’s not just hot; it’s also packed with flavors. The broth is rich and full of spice.

The self-service snack bar is $3 and includes all-you-can-eat chicken and sesame balls, added fun to our experience.

The highlight? The hot pot fried rice – a spicy, numbing delight. The meat quality is also excellent.

2. New Golden Soup Restaurant Address: 1039 E Valley Blvd STE B201, San Gabriel, CA 91776

The New Golden Soup Restaurant has one of the best lunch specials around.

The food is great and comes with a soup.

We ordered the lunch special that came with 2 different meats. We opted for duck and pork.

3. Kee Wah Bakery, Monterey Park Address: 729 W Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754

Kee Wah Bakery is a paradise for not-too-sweet tooths!

Their pastries, especially the egg tarts, are excellent. So flaky and just the right amount of sweet. It’s hard to eat just one.

The green onion bread is a must-try. It’s fluffy and filled with green onions.

This bakery has a homely feel, and the aroma of fresh baking is irresistible.

4. Jim’s Bakery Address: 400 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754

Jim’s Bakery is really the best egg tart bakery anywhere in SGV.

It was only mentioned in the show but it’s definitely the go-to spot.

They have both regular and Portuguese egg tarts for $1.90 and $2.10 respectively.

If you’ve ever had a ‘hot and fresh’ krispy kreme donut, these egg tarts eaten hot and fresh give you the same type of feeling.

Sweet, flaky and incredibly satisfying.

5. Golden Dragon Restaurant Address: 960 N Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012

In the show, this spot was known as the #1 Seafood Restaurant in Alhambra.

But in reality, it’s the Golden Dragon Restaurant in Chinatown.

We showed up for dim sum and it’s a really great spot with a lot of space.

They only have 1 cart and the rest is on the paper menu.

Occasionally, the servers come around with small plate items that you can get.
